Many women have had somewhat of a contentious relationship with strapless bras. That’s because when these bras work well, they’re a blessing, but when they don’t work well, they can be a curse. When these bras are doing their job, then they can be worn with all types of strapless dresses and summer wear. Fortunately, that doesn’t have to be the case. There are some great bra manufacturers that are making some of the best strapless models anyone has ever seen. All a modern woman has to do is select one of the bras and their days of dealing with inferior or ill-fitting models are instantly over. Towards that goal we’ve come up with what we feel are the top ten strapless bras currently available.

Finding the Right Strapless Bra
Any woman who has ever wanted to wear a summer dress or a strapless evening gown has probably bought a strapless bra that didn’t fit them correctly. At least, that’s the case if polls are to be believed. The majority of women have had at least one bad experience with these bras. They were either too tight, too loose or didn’t feel right to them. And while some of these experiences are due to bras not being designed properly, the majority of them are actually due to the fact that the wrong bra was purchased in the first place.
This doesn’t have to be the case, however. Women can find bras that are attractive and fit their bodies the way they were intended to fit. All it takes is a little bit of knowledge of what to look for in a good strapless bra. With that in mind, we’ve included some tips we feel will help women buy a strapless model that fits their body and their lifestyle. Let’s take a few moments and take a closer look at these tips.
Get an Accurate Bust Measurement
The only accurate way to measure your bust size is a flexible measuring tape. However, it has to be used correctly for it to be accurate. Although you can get a professional measurement from many different outlets, there’s no reason why you can’t do it at home. Here are a few tips which will allow you to get the most accurate bust measurement possible. And with a better measurement, you’ll end up with a greater chance of buying a bra which fits you.
1. Start With Band Size
Here’s how to do it: The first thing you need to do is measure your band size. This measurement can be obtained by measuring across the bottom of the band, which is directly under the bust and around the rib cage. The measuring tape should be level and close to your body but not too tight. Note this number and round it to the nearest whole number. Now, here’s the trick. With the measurement in hand, figure out if it’s an even or an odd number measurement. If it’s even, add 4-inches to the measurement. If it’s odd, add 5-inches. This is your band size. For example, if you measure 34-inches, then your band size is 38-inches. On the other hand, if your band size is 31-inches, then your band size is 36-inches.
2. Measure For Cup Size
Okay, now you should measure your cup size. Do this by wrapping the measuring tape around your bust, right at nipple level. Take note of the number and round it to the nearest whole level. Now you’re ready to calculate your bra size. Do this by subtracting your band size from your cup size. Each inch difference between these two numbers is the cup size. For example, if your band measurement is 36 and your cup measurement is 39, then the difference between these two numbers is 3, so your bra cup size is a C-cup. Therefore, you will wear a 36C in a regular bra.
3. Get Your Strapless Bra Estimate
However, your regular bra size is not a correct indication of what size bra you need. In most cases, you are going to want to round down in the band size and then round up in the cup size. This is because you’ll want a snug fit to keep the bra exactly where it’s supposed to stay.
Other Bra Considerations
Now that you’ve measured your bust and come up with your accurate strapless bra size, it’s now time to turn your attention to the features any prospective bra should have. That’s because buying the right size bra isn’t the only thing that ensures that a bra fits correctly. The features which the bra has are a great indication of not only bra quality but how well it’s going to stay put when it’s put on. Here are a few things to consider before purchasing your new strapless bra.
- Bandeau Bras—These bras don’t have cups, so their ideal for women who wear A-cup bras and provide the support needed.
- Full Figure Bras—Women with full-figures should purchase strapless bras that fit their figure better. They should look for bras with bigger elastic bands, have steel-wire boning and feature 3-hooks in the back.
- Silicone—Although some women resist strapless bras equipped with silicone, the reality of the matter is this feature can help the bra stick slightly to the skin. Which is why some of the all-silicone bras have become so popular lately. As long as you aren’t allergic to silicone, there’s no reason to not embrace this relatively new addition to the bra market.
Some Final Tips
Having gone over how to properly buy one of these bras, we feel that we’d be remiss in our discussion of this subject if we failed to provide a few additional tips that will help women get the most out of their newly purchased strapless bras.
Don’t Apply Cosmetics To Your Bust
When wearing one of these bras, it’s important that no cosmetic products are used on the bust. This includes baby powder, deodorant, oil or lotion. That’s because friction is what helps to keep a bra up and these products can break that friction.
Replace Your Bra Regularly
It’s also important to note that bras wear out over time and this is especially true with strapless models. This is why they should be replaced every 1 to 2-years. If the bra is used for long periods of the day, then they may even need to be replaced sooner than that. It’s true that old bras tend to be the bras that provide the least amount of support.
Take Care of Your Bra
Once you’ve invested in a high-quality strapless brasserie, it’s now time to take care of it. If your strapless brasserie has an underwire, then always make sure that you hand wash it and don’t just toss it in the washer. Hand wash them and then hang it to dry. This will prevent the bra from shrinking and will help it maintain its shape.
